The first section describes the study area, the mechanism of "heat islands" formation within the urban environment and examines preliminary studies of the central part of the city of Kyiv. The second section presents the theoretical bases for the accumulation of optical and radar satellite imagery within the study area, presents the methodology of the Kyiv city historic center urban landscape classification, the technique and physical basis of using space imagery to determine the Earth’s surface temperature distribution. This section contains the analysis of the principles of remote sensing data time series formation. Also the time series of urban landscape components and surface temperatures of the Kyiv historic center for the period 1985-2019 analyzed. Third chapter includes disruption of the complex technique of assessment of the state of certain districts of the city under the influence of urbanization factors and microclimatic conditions. It includes theoretical studies of the existing problem, practical analysis using remote sensing data different origin, and field works to determine the factors influencing the historical development and measuring the microclimatic parameters within the study area. Requirements for field calibration of thermal radiation coefficients, air temperature and relative humidity using precise measuring devices are also described.
