The subject of the study - the etiopathogenetic factors of pharmacoresistance facial sympathalgia, clinical features and complex diagnosis of facial sympathalgia. Purpose of the study: to study the clinical and pathogenetic mechanisms of formation of pharmacoresistant facial pain caused by lesions of the sympathetic nervous system; theoretical, experimental-morphological and clinical substantiation of neurosurgical treatment of patients with facial sympathalgia. Methods of the investigation: clinical, anamnestic, neurological, neuroophthalmical, otoneurological, radiological, neuroimaging, neurophysiological, laboratory, biochemical, statistical. The results were obtained. The main clinical forms of pharmacoresistance facial sympathalgia were studies, namely ganglionitis of the cervical sympathetic nodes and syndrome of superficial temporal artery. Selected target objects of the neurosurgical interventions in the patients with pharmacoresistance facial sympathalgia - lower cervical (stellate) sympathetic node, upper cervical sympathetic node, periarterial plexus of superficial temporal artery. Fifty-four patients with pharmacoresistance facial sympathalgia were undergone by neurosurgery interventions and the results of this surgical treatment were evaluated. Based on clinical and experimental-morphological studies, reasonable conclusions were done regarding the mechanisms of the development of pharmacoresistance facial sympathalgia and new advanced neurosurgical method of treatment of this pathology was proposed.
