The object of investigation – medicinal plants Matricaria chamomilla, Hypericum perforatum, Silybum marianum, Digitalis purpurea, Salvia officinalis. The aim of research – developing of radiation biotechnology increasing produce and isomeric variation of secondary metabolites in medicinal plants in vitro to raise their pharmaceutical value. The methods of investigation – radiobiological, molecular-biological, plant cultivation in laboratory and field, spectrophotometric, chromatographic, biochemical, physiological, microscopical, statistical. Pre-sowing radiation exposure of Matricaria chamomilla seeds (dose range 10-30 Gy) stimulated sum yield both flavonoid and phenol content into water-ethanolic extracts following higher biomass. Pre-sowing radiation exposure (dose range 20-35 Gy) of Salvia officinalis seeds has increased amount of both essential oil trichomes and inclusions through epidermis. Increasing yield of phenol, flavonoid and rosemarine acid content into water-ethanolic extracts was indicated under pre-sowing radiation exposure with all doses (dose range 5-50 Gy). Pre-sowing radiation exposure of Hypericum perforatum seeds let to increasing both biomass without stimulation of flavonoid content (exposure with 20 and 35 Gy) and yield of flavonoid such as quercetine, rutine, hyperozide with no biomass stimulation. Principal opportunity applying radiation exposure to stimulate carotienoide and flavonoid synthesis in tissues of Degetalis purpurea regenerants in vitro was demonstrated. Monography “Radiation exposure and plant secondary metabolism” was published. According to obtained data 7 papers were published, 1 patent for a utility model was obtained and 14 conference reports were made.
