The level of preventive competence of doctors and patients with arterial hypertension was established. A model for the prevention of hypertension was developed and substantiated, taking into account the peculiarities of its use in the population, which is of great practical importance. 1. The main theoretical and practical results of the study indicate the need to improve and implement modern measures for the prevention of hypertension in the population, to increase the preventive training of doctors and to improve the awareness of patients with hypertension for its prevention. 2. The competence of doctors on the prevention of hypertension was established. Yes, 30.62 ± 4.3% of doctors have a low level of knowledge, 53.2 ± 4.7% are not well trained, 83.8 ± 3.49% need sources of information, family doctors have the best training, which confirmed 50.5 ± 4.7% of other respondents. 3. It was found that 70.8 ± 1.87% of the respondents with hypertension believe that the control of their blood pressure is the basis of prevention of their disease, and other measures. Thus, only 9.2 ± 1.2% of the respondents consult a doctor for a healthy lifestyle and only 14.2 ± 1.4% follow it. This indicates the need to increase prevention work among the population. The model of prevention of hypertension and its complications in the population, which is recommended for application, is substantiated and developed. The main new elements of the model are the formation of healthy lifestyles in the population on the principle of «knowledge - belief – action», the formation of risk groups of complications due to hypertension, as well as the control of the effectiveness of preventive work on the disease.
