It was examined 405 male clean-up workers (CW) of the Chernobyl accident (CHD) and 145 non-irradiated control (CG). At the time of CHD onset CW were found to be 5.9 years younger than non-exposed subjects. The first signs of coronary arteries stenosing sclerosis in the CW appeared 2 years earlier than in CG, and they were 2.5 years younger than CG if became ill in the age range of 35 to 70 years. The total severity of comorbid pathology according to the Kaplan-Feinstein index was probably the highest in CW with stenosing coronary sclerosis. The most common comorbid pathology was arterial hypertension, diseases of nervous system and musculoskeletal system. In patients with stenosing coronary sclerosis, the size of left ventricle, its mass of myocardium and its index were larger than in patients without clinically pronounced coronary artery atherosclerosis. Concentric remodeling of left ventricle and concentric hypertrophy of left ventricle were common for CW and non-irradiated patients without signs of stenotic coronarosclerosis, whereas eccentric hypertrophy was observed in patients with stenosing coronary sclerosis. Diastolic dysfunction is established in all patients with coronary stenosis. The highest relative number of patients with the phenomena of restrictive filling of left ventricle was observed in CW with stenosing coronary sclerosis. One third of patients in this group had a combination of diastolic and systolic dysfunction, which was significantly greater than among CW without clinically pronounced coronary artery atherosclerosis.
