However, studies devoted to the role of zinc in maintenance of endocrine function are limited. For the correction of zinc deficiency a limited range of drugs have been used, because the latest forms of their biological action is unpredictable. Therefore, the aim of the project was to find out the relationship of zinc homeostasis and endocrine panel in the alternative models of hyperglycemia and diabetes among the lower vertebrates, and the possibility of their correction with nano-complexes of zinc based on ayurvedic herbs as well as to create recommendations for early diagnosis of endocrine disorders in animals and humans based on the assessment of zinc homeostasis. A spectrum of methods for determining the hormonal panel, the distribution of zinc and the state of its transport systems, and a set of biomarkers of stress and toxicity were used for the analysis. As a result of the project implementation, a scheme for induction of diabetes in carp fish by the alimentary way was developed, a systematic study of molecular stress reactions under conditions of hyperglycemia was conducted and an optimal set of indicators for the rapid diagnosis of hyperglycemic conditions in the lower vertebrates and for the evaluation of organism was developed. For the first time, nanomaterials of zinc oxide and synthesized compounds based on ayurvedic herbs have been used by means of correcting endocrine disorders.
