The goal is to test the double-zone heating instrument for the welding of pipes of various PE types on a convenient welding device. Investigation methods: light microscopy, mechanical tests, thermos-visual control. A number of experimental woks have been carries out to test the double-zone heating instrument. Welding seams formation peculiarities for various conditions have been investigated. Tensile tests have been done for the welded specimens. The optimal butt welding parameters have been selected for the welding of dissimilar materials. Basing on the experimental results the final version of double-zone heating instrument has been designed. Technological recommendations have been developed for the double-zone heating instrument operation within the conventional welding device for the welding of dissimilar PE pipes. In the prospect the serial all-purpose equipment for the welding of dissimilar pipes can be produced; such equipment will prevent the breakdowns and will simplify the effective repair works on the polymeric gas and water supplying pipelines.
