As a result of the research are: - created new physical-mathematical models of media with inhomogeneities for their further use to improve the characteristics of measuring devices; - fundamental theoretical models of electromagnetic wave propagation are supplemented in the case of layered media with inhomogeneities if electrically thin layers are present; - the results of considering the polarization state of the probing signals in artificial (industrial and transport structures) and natural (biological) media are new in the project's tasks in terms of developing methods for solving direct diffraction problems and propagation of electromagnetic waves; - the authors have developed patented technologies for the processing of impulse signals and interpretation of sounding data and non-destructive control of complex inhomogeneous objects with inclusions; - the authors conducted experimental studies of the possibilities of using the proposed computational algorithms and the obtained results for the search and identification of subsurface objects, and offered practical recommendations. The results of the R&D report indicates the relevance of the approach chosen, they can form the basis for the further development of methods and means of non-destructive testing and should be developed in subsequent parojects.
