Objective: To optimize the algorithm of diagnostics and treatment of this combined pathology on the basis of studying the features of the effect of disorders of purine metabolism on the development of insulin-dependent and insulin-independent forms of diabetes mellitus and its complications, which are specific to the Ukrainian population. The important role of the xanthine oxidase system in the mechanism of development of endothelial dysfunction in patients with diabetes of both 1 and 2 types is revealed.
