The aim of the study was to study the effect of d / f-metal additives in La (Zr) -SiO2, Mg (Ce) -Al2O3 oxide compositions on their functional properties as catalysts for the conversion of ethanol into 1,3-butadiene and 1-butanol. The electron-adsorption regularities of the influence of alloying impurities of d- / f-metals on the selectivity and efficiency of the created oxide nanosystems with different phase conductivity are investigated. The positive effect of the simultaneous addition of zinc and magnesium oxides as catalysts for the conversion of ethanol into 1,3-butadiene by the Lebedev method was established. The catalyst material is determined for such a process that has an optimal balance between the number of redox and acid-base active centres. The composition of the initial reaction products was determined and structural defects and morphological changes of the catalysts due to the catalytic conversion of ethanol into 1,3-butadiene were investigated. A quantitative model for the analysis of acid-base properties of catalytic systems is proposed. The following methods were used: Auger electron spectroscopy, Thermal desorption mass spectrometry, near ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (10 mbar), high resolution scanning electron microscope and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The results obtained are important for deepening the fundamental concepts of physicochemical processes on the surface and for the development of modified oxide nanosystems as industrial catalysts.
