Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description2  A new algorithm is proposed for spatial transformations and photometric normalization of asteroid images obtained by space missions in an external perspective projection taking into account the relief and photometric function of the surface. A new phase function is obtained, which can be used to determine the parameters describing the regolith texture and optical properties of atmosphereless bodies. New phase function gives better approximation of the phase dependence of asteroids over a wide range of phase angles compared to previously used function. A new model of asteroid shapes is proposed describing body shapes with both convex and concave elements of global topography. Spatial distributions of the spectrophotometric parameters of the Moon's surface were obtained using available Chandrayaan-1 data. Relationships between geologic and spectral parameter maps were established. The differences in the chemical and mineralogical composition of lava flows compared to mare areas have been found. For the first time, the phase-ratio images of the visible albedo were constructed for the selected areas of the dwarf planet Ceres and the asteroid (4) Vesta using data obtained by the NASA Dawn spacecraft. We found regions on Ceres’ surface with anomalous optical roughness, which can be related with the manifestation of the slope processes and hydrothermal activity. The application of the phase-ratio method to the analysis of images of asteroids gives a possibility to search for young craters, taluses, areas covered by ejections due to endogenous processes.
