Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description2  The object of research – thin films with real-time photosensitivity; thin films of RbPb2Cl5, Rb6Pb5Cl16, and of Cs1-xRbxPbCl3 solid solutions (0х0.7), two-dimensional polycrystal Cu foils of various thicknesses. The purpose of the project – to research nonlinear optical effects in photosensitive films, exciton spectra of thin films of RbPb2Cl5, Rb6Pb5Cl16, and Cs1-xRbxPbCl3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.7); to determine the influence of annealing twins on development mechanisms of plastic deformation, strain hardening and mechanical characteristics of two-dimensional Cu foils. Methods of the research – vacuum preparation of films; illumination of the films by monochromatic light; spectroscopic, diffractional and microscopic studies of morphology and structure; mechanical studies and research of deformational relief of samples by the instrumentality of optical, raster microscopy, interferometry and optoelectronic technique. Experiments were conducted to create waveguide AgCl–Ag films on glass substrates and to record diffraction patterns from gratings induced in these films by a laser beam of milliwatt power. Existence of optical bistability has been proven at grating development. Computer modeling of diffraction patterns has been conducted for the first time. Analysis of model parameters provided new information on the gratings. Fundamental domain character of grating structure has been proven. Thin films of RbPb2Cl5 and Rb6Pb5Cl16 compounds and Cs1-xRbxPbCl3 solid solutions (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.7) were synthesized, and their absorption spectra were researched within 2–6 eV spectral range at temperatures 90–500 K. Exciton spectrum of the compounds is interpreted on the basis of electron transitions in Pb2+ ions. The results of the project are being used for further development of nonlinear optics of thin films, exciton theory for multicomponent compounds, for creating polycrystals with a defective structure to provide high strength and plasticity of polycrystals.
