The structuring of the content of the publication was carried out in accordance with the technical specification of the GDR and the identified areas of research. National higher education institutions are analyzed and directed to introduce mechanisms of effective governance in their governance that would democratize their social environment and thus contribute to the development of personal potential of academic staff and higher education students as a guarantee of increasing their competitiveness and competitiveness in the European Union. . The recommendations warn the heads of Ukrainian higher education institutions from the negative effects of over-administering and cultivating authoritarian style in their governance activities, as well as favoring survival tactics over the development strategy of their institutions. Particular attention in the recommendations is given to the formation of a virtuous academic environment in higher education institutions as a basic prerequisite for the introduction of effective governance mechanisms in their management.
