Bogatsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Objects of research – glycerol, acetals, ketals, natural aluminosilicates (bentonite, clinoptilolite, trepel). Aim of study: Development scientific basis complex of catalytic methods for glycerol conversion (utilization) and its derivatives (esters, ethers, carbonates, acetals, ketals, etc.) into so-called "small-tonnage products" that are interest as additives for motor fuels, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food industry. Research methods: gas chromatography, spectrophotometry, potentiometry, IR spectroscopy. A search was carried out, systematized and summarized literature data about results of glycerol conversion to acetals and ketals, approaches and methods, selection and development of catalysts, the influence of various parameters on its catalytic conversions. Main factors determining catalytic activity of acid-modified H-CLI, H-Bent and H-Tr in reaction of glycerol (GL) with acetone (Ac) have been identified. The main reaction product is 2,2-dimethyl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioxolane. Catalytic properties of studied samples in significant extent depend on preparation method, surface acidity and volume of reaction mixture. Catalytic properties of H-CLI and H-Bent in same reaction are compared. With increase of catalyst amount, ZGL value grows and reaches constant value for H-Bent and H-CLI obtained by various methods. H-Bent is more active than H-CLI, but with increase of catalyst amount, the difference in ZGL values of such samples decreases. Reaction mechanism scheme is proposed. Optimal conditions for obtaining H-CLI, H-Bent and H-Tr samples, affecting their catalytic activity in reaction of GL with benzaldehyde (BA), were revealed. Other things being equal, H-Bent samples are generally more active than H-CLI and H-Tr, as well as sulfocationit KU-2. Kinetics of studied reactions is satisfactorily described by Michaelis-Menten model.   Product Description popup.authors Davtian Araksia S. Kamalov Gerbert L. Levchenko Olha O.
