Stage 2: Prototyping of a very low-frequency antenna element for the lunar radio telescope. popup.stage_title Head Stanislavsky Oleksandr O., Доктор фізико-математичних наук Registration Date 11-02-2020 Organization Institute of Radio Astronomy of the NAS of Ukraine popup.description2  The object of the project – Development of a low-frequency active antenna dipole for a radio telescope in a future lunar mission. The purpose of the project – Increasing the sensitivity, resolution, bandwidth, reliability of radio astronomical elements and systems for low-frequency studies of the Sun's radiation, interplanetary environment, planets, pulsars, supernova remnants, and more on the far-side of the Moon. Results and scientific novelty – The complex-geometry antenna, located above the partially conductive ground, was considered as a probable candidate element of the antenna array of a very low-frequency radio telescope. The computer model of this antenna has been developed to obtain its impedance and energy parameters as well directional characteristics. Computer simulations were performed for finding the impedance, efficiency, and the effective area of the antenna to be tested over a wide frequency range from 1 to 70 MHz. As a result, the dipole and its amplifier were designed and produced for the active antenna capable of receiving radio emission in the frequency band 4 - 40 MHz, for which test measurements of the response to the Galactic background radiation at the Radio Astronomical Observatory were carried out in terrestrial conditions, which allowed to register daily variations in a wide band of frequencies and indicates sufficient sensitivity of the produced antenna. Comparison of the results of calculations with the results of real measurements showed a satisfactory coincidence between them over most of the required frequency range useful for future low-frequency radio observations from the Moon surface. Methods and equipment - Radio astronomical methods for observing the radiation of objects of the Universe with the help of Ukrainian radio telescopes UTR-2, URAN and GURT, spectral and correlation data processing. Field of use - radio astronomy, astro-space instrumentation and technology. Product Description popup.authors Yerin Serhii M. Bortsov Victor V. Brazhenko Anatoliy I. Bubnov Igor M.
