The binding energy of water to the surface is determined not by its hydrophobic properties but by the radii of the water clusters located in the interparticle gaps. It is revealed that, depending on the method of preparation of the composite PMS / A-300 system, water in the interparticle gaps may be in weakly bound or strongly bound states. Depending on how the liquid hydrophobic medium affects the size of the adsorbed water clusters, it can lead to a decrease or increase in the amount of interfacial energy of the adsorbed water.
