The cooling ponds of power plants are offered as a model object for study of biorisks. This project is in the focus according to novel features of anthropogenic press, including complex effect of factors accompanied with climate change, determinated by a sharp decline of biodiversity and spontaneous death of species in fishery ponds and necessary for mechanistic understanding of the possibilities of animals to survive under global warming. In this project we used integrated set of molecular, physiological and cytogenetic markers in bivalves and fish from the cooling ponds of two power plants and reference reservoir under additional experimental treatment by chemicals (metformin, atorvastatin; cynotoxins cylindrospermopsin and microcystin). The results have been optimizing evaluation of effects of biorisks, assessment methodology of environmental impacts of traditional energy sources and gain our understanding of the adaptive changes in evolutionarily conserved signaling mechanism of organism resistance to stress factors.
