The result of this task with the application of bioinformatics methods is to identify patterns of regulation of the autophagy process under stressful conditions. Comparison of plant expression profiles with different stress-tolerance potentials has made it possible to identify specific sets of tissue-specific resistance to drought and salt stress mediated by autophagy in barley cells. The technique developed should extend the ability to analyze other drought and salt stress cereals genotypes to further search for useful genes, and the data obtained are suitable for further transcriptomic analysis. The purpose of the project phase was to conduct a plausible assessment of the levels of gene expression involved in autophagy in plant cells. As a result, an optimal methodological procedure was developed, including the processes of mRNA isolation, cDNA production, and real-time PCR, which met the goals as much as possible. The identified and selected resistance genes are recommended for use in molecular genetics and breeding as molecular markers. The identified resistance genes have great potential for their active use in plant biotechnology to create new salt- and drought-tolerant varieties of crops, which can greatly improve agricultural efficiency and food security.
