The overexpression of AOX1 gene resulted in increased ethanol production from xylose and glycerol. The О. polymorpha pex3 mutant with impaired peroxisome biogenesis and pex11 mutant with impaired peroxisome division were constructed during the fulfillment of the project. The knockout of PEX11 gene in the genome of the wild-type strain resulted in 1.5-fold increased ethanol production from xylose, on the other hand the overexpression of PEX11 had no significant influence on ethanol production.
