It was first established that the expression levels of polyamine synthesis enzymes (arginase, ornithine decarboxylase and spermine synthase) in prostate cancer tumors decreased with an increasing of tumor malignancy (according to the Gleason score) and the stage of the disease; the expression levels of polyamine catabolism enzymes – spermine / spermidine acetyltransferase and polyamine oxidase, on the contrary, enhanced with increasing tumor malignancy and stage of the disease. It was found that with increasing malignancy (according to the Gleason scale) the levels of spermine and putrescine in the prostate cancer tumors sharply reduced, while levels of acetylated forms of spermidine increased. It was found that the levels of polyamines and their acetylated forms in the studied tumors correlated with the expression levels of the corresponding polyamine synthesis and catabolism enzymes. Such changes in the metabolism of polyamines are apparently a characteristic feature of prostate cancer, which distinguishes them from malignant tumors of other localizations. A method of selective spermine and spermidine detection using gold and silver nanoparticles was elaborated. RNA-ase and dsRNA-ase activities, and zinc level were found to decrease with increasing of the tumor disease stage. The obtained data will be a scientific basis for the elaboration of new markers for refined diagnostics and prognosis of prostate cancer Product Description popup.authors Bentrad Veronika V.
