The aim of the research is to study the forest condition according to the methods agreed with the international forest monitoring programs, to develop scientific and methodological bases for forets inventory and monitoring in Ukraine on the basis of advanced technologies of information collection and processing, to study long-term trends of radioactive contamination of wood, berry and medicinal trees in Polissya. Research methods: systematic forest ecological approach, observation techniques, harmonized with the requirements of international forest monitoring and inventory programs, methods of comparative ecology, forestry and forestry, geobotany, radioecology; equipment - specialized field equipment for forest inventory and monitoring, gamma spectrometers. Theoretical and practical results: technology of forest monitoring and inventory in Ukraine have been improved according to the methods of international monitoring programs UN-ECE ICP Forests; long-term observation data on I and II level forest monitoring plots in Ukraine were analysed; methods of data analysis and interpretation have been improved; a syphito-indicative assessment of ecological regimes of ecotopes of forest ecosystems of the Forest-steppe forestry region was conducted; the vulnerability of the forest ecosystems of the plain part of Ukraine to climate change was evalueted; long-term dynamics of radioactive contamination of forest ecosystem components and the intensity of cesium migration (137Cs) in forest plants, soils and forest products were studied. Novelty: Methods for modeling the impact of climate change on the viability of major forest tree species was developed. Implementation efficiency: research results will improve the level of information support for sustainable forest management.
