Purpose. To study the ocular heat exchange during vitrectomy with the use of laser radiation and high-frequency electric current, as well as morphological changes of eye structures in artificial hypothermia. Results and their novelty. It was first discovered that after vitrectomy with continuous prolonged (30 or 60 minutes) irrigation of the vitreous cavity of the rabbit eye with a solution of 22 ° C and 5 ° C, in the choroid and the retina inverse irregular edema are observed, which progress with increasing of the duration of irrigation; and after vitrectomy with irrigation of the vitreous cavity with a solution of 36 ° C structural changes in the choroid and retina are not observed. It was first discovered that during a human eye vitrectomy, there was a significant decrease in the temperature of the vitreous cavity with using of irrigation solutions of room temperature (24.2 ° C), and after additional surgical manipulations there is a rapid increase in the temperature in the vitreous cavity (by an average of 0.18 ° C per minute). Scientific data of threshold parameters of electric current for high-frequency welding of the chorioretinal complex after removal of vitreous, with tamponade of the vitreous cavity by perfluorodecalin or air (voltage 20 - 22 V, current strength - up to 0.3 A, frequency - 66 kHz) are supplemented, which are fundamentally different in voltage level (more than 6 V) from the welding parameters in the presence of vitreous body, which may be due to the higher high-frequency electrical conductivity of the vitreous body in comparison with the tamping substances.
