The subject (purpose) of the study was to analyze trends of spatio-temporal variation of the diversity parameters of selected groups of biota of Ukraine at different territorial levels. Within Ukraine, various model regions, including two mountainous regions, as well as hills and flat regions of the west of Ukraine, are selected for research. In addition, the study was conducted in the latitudinal gradient of climatic conditions. As a result of the research conducted, a comparative analysis of existing information on the study of model groups of flora and fauna of certain regions of Ukraine was conducted, museum collections were investigated, 7 new taxa of Collembola, Nematoda, Insecta and Protura were described, and existing electronic databases were supplemented. As a result of the implementation of this stage, 32 scientific works were published, 22 articles and 10 materials of conferences. At this stage of the implementation of scientific topic was confirmed the hypothesis that the drift of the continents was an important factor in the formation of fossil faunas of Central Europe and, in particular, Ukraine. At this stage of implementation of the topic, an important consequence of the work carried out was to analyze the main trends of the space-time variation of the parameters of the diversity of model groups of biota in different spatial scales of the territory of Ukraine.
