Subject - characteristics of radioactive contamination at the sites of military units. The main locations of the military units that were involved in the elimination of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster in the period 1986-1990 were identified. Detailed radiation examinations of detected military dislocations were conducted. Detailed maps of radioactive contamination characteristics (exposure dose rate, 137Cs and Sr contamination densities) for military locations have been constructed. According to the results of the research, 6 point radioactive sources and 3 long-term contamination with multiple point radioactive sources were identified. According to the current legislation of Ukraine, the identified radioactive sources need to be removed. Examination and certification of the detected radioactive sources had been carried out. Approaches to their remediation had been proposed. Ways to improve the ecological status of the locations of military units were proposed. According to the results of the research, the QGIS project "Dislocations of military units involved in the Chernobyl NPP" was created. The project can be used as a geoinformation basis for storing, visualizing, analyzing and accumulating experimental data for planning and implementing remediation activities in these territories.
