Mechanical methods of recycling waste fiber reinforced polymer composites is a promising technology for the disposal of carbon plastics waste and use them as raw materials for the production of secondary materials. The wastes fractional composition of structural polymer composites based on carbon fibers from PAN precursors was investigated. It is shown that the waste of small fractions consists mainly of carbon fiber fragments and filaments of different lengths with epoxy matrix residues. According to DTA results, the thermal degradation of epoxy matrices, regardless of the composition of the carbon plastics, occurs in the temperature range of 245-300 ° C, and the oxidation and partial destruction of carbon fibers at ~ 350-400 ° C, which is significantly higher than the polymerization temperature of the epoxy matrix of the secondary composite. Based on the results of tribotechnical properties, it is shown that the introduction into the epoxy resin ED-20 of dispersed carbon wastes increases the load and wear resistance by almost 3 times. The optimum content of filler with a fraction of 50-500 ?m in the composite is 18 wt.%. The results of tribotechnical tests of the composite paired with stainless steel 1X18H9T in aqueous medium allows to recommend them for use at the friction units of pumps in other media (seawater, oil, solution, etc.). One of the main areas of practical application of the developed materials can be pump bearings for water pumping in shipbuilding and agricultural mechanization units.
