Studies of energy transfer to the surface of the material were carried out for various loading of plasma and magnitude of the external magnetic field.Calorimetry, optical emission spectroscopy, and high-speed imaging were used to determine the characteristics of PPV. When perpendicular to the plasma deposition, it was shown that a transient plasma layer is formed before the surface by stopping the main part of the plasma stream, even for sufficiently small plasma loads that do not cause the surface of the material to melt. The plasma density in the surface layer is much higher than in the stream.This results in a shielding effect to transfer energy to the surface.
