The purpose of the ECRF's ultra-short pulses is to improve the cleaning of walls at Wendelstain-7ex (B-7ex). The proposal to clean the walls with hydrogen plasma is based on the production of atomic hydrogen in the plasma, which chemically interacts with impurities adsorbed on the surface of the chamber. At the beginning of the W1-X OP1.2b experimental campaign, successful discharges were performed according to the proposed scenario, using one and four ECCR start pulses using pre-ionization: - A single 3 msec ECR pulse generates a half-density plasma compared to a previous pulse that ended 0.9 s earlier; - there are indications that the plasma is not completely ionized (the behavior of optical lines, half the plasma density), and the generation of atomic hydrogen is expected; - the plasma decays fairly quickly. It is more a recombination than a diffusion. This allows for a high repetition rate (5 Hz); - H-alpha indicates bulk plasma during pulses; - The 4 pulse chain, which is accompanied by gas tightening, is successful. Such a circuit can be the basis for the ECRI wall conditioning scenario.
