Since Portland cement contains about 65% lime and some of it remains free after the hydration process of the concrete composition, there is a need to introduce a pozzolanic (SiO2) additive into the concrete that chemically neutralizes the lime and generally improves the mechanical properties of the concrete. In this work, as a pozzolanic additive in cementitious materials it is proposed to use ash removal of Burshtyn TPP. The ash particles are removed from the smoke generated by the combustion of pulverized coal, mixed with water and pumped into the sedimentation tanks where they are deposited. All ash particles have a microspherical shape and their size is 2-100 microns. The peculiarity of the structure of microspherical particles is that their main components, in the form of ultra-small crystallites of quartz, mullite and magnetite, are interconnected by the vitreous phase.
