The exclusion criteria for the study were the history of TBI, stroke, occupational diseases, Parkinson's disease and other diseases that could affect the study and give false results, the presence of CD2 in the anamnesis, treatment with any antidiabetic drugs before. The aim of our work was to determine the effect of metformin on the state of cognitive function, hypoxia factor (HIF) level, brain neurotrophic factor (BDNF) level, as well as the status of the pro- and antioxidant system in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes. Purpose: to search for new alternative ways of timely diagnosis of diabetic neuropathy and to develop modern therapies. Research methods: general clinical - to determine the status of patients: collection of complaints and medical history, physical examination with measurement of anthropometric indicators (height, weight), establishment of body mass index; biochemical to assess lipid metabolism based on total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), carbohydrate metabolism as determined by glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and fasting plasma glucose (FPG); psychometric tests: 5 word test, mental status assessment scale (MMSE), battery of frontal dysfunction tests (BPD), clock drawing test evaluation, Rey Audirory Verbal Lerning Test (RAVLT), Brixton test, Trail making test (TMT), Digit span forward and backforward (DSFB), Verbal fluency test (animal part) (FV), Test symbol (TS), Stroop color test (SCT); diagnosis of somatic-sensory diabetic neuropathy.
