An experimental study of obtaining hydrogen of the required purity for the operation of fuel cells by steam reforming of bioethanol on MFe2О4 (M = Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) catalysts with spinel structure was carried out. The factors that determine the selectivity of catalysts for the formation of carbon monoxide - an undesirable impurity in hydrogen for its use in low-temperature fuel cells have been identified. Technical evaluation of the possibility of hydrogen production by steam reforming of bioethanol for the operation of the fuel cell to obtain electricity has been carried out. The energy balance of the autonomous catalytic hydrogen generator was calculated based on the developed catalyst for the steam reforming of ethanol.
