The purpose of the study is to form theoretical provisions on the use of special knowledge in criminal proceedings, to determine the nature and legal nature of forensic examination in criminal proceedings, the legal status of experts and specialists in criminal proceedings in Ukraine. Research methods - a set of general scientific (dialectical, system-structural), individual-scientific (statistical, specific-sociological, cybernetic) and special-scientific (formal-legal, comparative-legal) methods of cognition. The theoretical and practical results - prepared a scientific report and a textbook on the appointment and conduct of forensic examinations in criminal proceedings. The results of this work in the form of a published manuscript will be useful for legal practitioners in the process of appointing and conducting forensic expertise, scientists, law enforcement officers, judges, teachers, graduate students and students when used in the educational process in higher education in Ukraine. The novelty of the study - the relevance of the study due to the creation of a textbook "Forensic expertise in criminal proceedings", which reveals the main issues of use and application of special knowledge in criminal proceedings, in particular, regarding the appointment and conduct of forensic expertise. The effectiveness of the implementation - the results of this work can be used in the appointment or order of forensic examinations by the parties to criminal proceedings, in conducting forensic expertise, training and internship of forensic experts in higher education institutions in the educational process. Field of use - the work is intended for forensic experts, scientists, law enforcement officers, judges, teachers, graduate students, students of higher educational institutions.
