The feasibility of studying the Sokolov-Lyon ECG voltage index in 16-18 years old adolescents during medical preventive examinations is grounded, that will allow to perform early diagnosis and prediction of the rapid development of left ventricular hypertrophy of the heart as a lesion of the target organ with arterial hypertension. According to the results of echocardiography, signs of remodeling of the left ventricle by a concentric type were revealed in 6% of 16-18 years old adolescents with newly diagnosed arterial hypertension. For the first time, the association of rs7744275 COL21A1 gene polymorphism with the development of arterial hypertension in adolescents of the Ukrainian subpopulation has been established, which can be used to stratify the disease risk in young people. In order to improve the diagnosis and make a decision on the drug treatment initiation of primary arterial hypertension in 16-17 years old adolescents while office blood pressure is revealed to be SBP≥120 mm Hg and/or DBP≥80 mm Hg one should pay attention to the signs of a possible unfavorable course of arterial hypertension. They are the results of long-term daily pressure load according to the arterial pressure daily monitoring method, signs of the formation of left ventricular hypertrophy of the heart according to the Sokolov-Lyon ECG amplitude index>34 mm. Under these conditions, the absence of improvement of patients’state within 6-12 months of the use of non-drug treatment methods should prompt the necessity of drug antihypertensive treatment.
