The authors examined a causal relationship, is formed by experts as a result of a study of a railway accident and the possible impact of the characteristics of cargo transportation on the mechanism of the railway accident. The work reveals and draws attention to the importance of the issue of preventing the occurrence of railway accidents (dangerous transport situations) due to the disorder of cargo securing along its route to the destination station, discrepancy between the mass of the cargo and the method of securing it in the car according to the requirements of regulatory documents.
