The purpose of the study: analysis of literature data on the thermodynamic properties of liquid alloys of transition metals and their glass-forming ability; analysis of literature information on the use of binders in sand-bentonite foundry molds, the state of modern methods of mathematical data processing and automated design of processes and objects of foundry production, modern mixers for sand-clay mixtures, the state of use of chemical heat treatment steels and cast irons; research of graphitizing, spheroidizing and carbide-stabilizing modification of cast iron melt in foundry form. Research methods: optical microscopy, microhardness measurement, methods of statistical analysis. Theoretical and practical results. It is established that the thermodynamic properties of the liquid alloys of the Co–Cu–Hf and Fe–Ni–Hf systems should be the subject of experimental research; the concentration region of amorphization of the Co–Cu–Hf, Cu–Fe–Hf and Fe–Ni–Hf systems will be the subject of theoretical research; the compositions, properties and quality problems of bentonite-based molding mixtures are considered; methods of boron-based coatings in powder mixtures are considered; the particle size distribution of additives for effective modification of molten iron in the mold is experimentally studied. The scientific novelty is in the proposed new technologies to intensify the processing of molten iron in the mold with the use of more effective fine modifying additives. Scope: in the production of castings from steels, cast irons and non-ferrous metals and alloys.
