During the twentieth century. creation of resistant varieties by introgression of chromosomal fragments with stem rust resistance genes to the wheat genome allowed to successfully control the spread of the stem rust pathogen, but with the appearance of the Ug99 race in 1999, world wheat production was under threat, because up to 90% of modern wheat varieties are unresistant to this highly virulent race. In order to solve this problem, a bioinformatic search for homologues of three barley genes (Rpg5, Adf3, and RGA1) in wild relatives of wheat, the pyramidation of which is able to ensure the resistance of wheat to stem rust Ug99. A strategy for cloning all these genes (Rpg5, Adf3 and RGA1) has been developed to create genetic constructs with them for further wheat transformation. In parallel, recommendations for their introgression to modern wheat varieties from wild relatives of wheat have been developed. Product Description popup.authors Blume Yaroslav B.
