Research methods are as follows: system approach, trend analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, correlation and regression analysis, methods of balance estimations, fuzzy logic method, economic and mathematical modeling.The authors' methodical approach to definition of development potential of processing industries was developed. The level of import dependence of the national economy by consumption segments (general, intermediate and final) was determined, and the system of priorities for import substitution in the domestic market of industrial products was formed. Econometric models of influence of investment and innovation parameters on formation of export potential of the Ukrainian processing industry were elaborated. The peculiarities of the functioning of the chemical industry in Ukraine were determined on the basis of a comparative analysis of the closeness of intersectoral relationships and the level of consumption of domestic and European chemical industries. The mesolevel matrix of economic and resource potentials of the chemical industry was constructed. Strategic guidelines for the development of promising chemical industries in the Western region were substantiated.An organizational mechanism for restoring the raw material base for textile and other light industries by creating agricultural parks was developed. The regions of Ukraine were grouped by the volumes of production of agricultural raw materials and products of their industrial processing.
