As a result of the analysis of chromatography data of two types of biofuel - methyl esters of rapeseed oil (MERO) and methyl esters of sunflower oil (MESO), for the first time revealed: 1) two test samples of biodiesel have approximately the same values ​​of heat of combustion (the difference in heat of combustion is only 0.63% in favor of MESO); 2) what are the esters of fatty acids and due to what have the greatest impact on the heat of combustion of a sample of biodiesel. The above scientific results have the following practical value: first - to assess the impact of fatty acid composition of biodiesel on one of the main indicators that characterizes the efficiency of fuel use - heat of combustion; secondly, they can serve as initial data for further research in the derivation of new varieties of sunflower and rapeseed and determine the feasibility of using them as technical seeds for the production of biodiesel; thirdly, they allow to formulate a scientific hypothesis of further scientific researches in the direction of development of new technologies of production and use of alternative fuels - hydrogen saturation for the purpose of increase of heat of combustion of biodiesel fuel. A mathematical model developed at the Department of Internal Combustion Engines, which connects the parameters of the engine with the elemental composition of the fuel, is used and tested. This mathematical model makes it possible to calculate the operational and technological performance of the engine to predict and evaluate the efficiency of its operation, in particular using biodiesel fuel produced from various vegetable raw materials.
