The purpose of the work is to improve the quality and properties of metal products through alloying, bulk and surface treatments. Research methods - dilatometric and X-ray fluorescence methods, microscopic and X-ray phase analysis, testing of mechanical and operational properties, mathematical processing. Rational heat treatment regimes, which provide significant increase of abrasive wear resistance of investigated steels 35CrMoV, 45Mn, 40Cr3Мo2WMnSi after cementation are determined. By obtaining in the structure of the surface layer along with other components increased amount of metastable austenite and realization of self-hardening effect under load. The connection between the formation of shock-abrasive wear resistance and the kinetics of deformation phase transformations in the testing of cast irons, developed a program in Mathcad environment for mathematical modeling of the studied dependences and optimization of the chemical composition of the developed wear-resistant cast irons. The kinetics of decarburization and change of structure on depth of wear-resistant steel 120Mn3Si3 with the increased content of silicon at heating in the range of 800-1000 oC are investigated and described; the values of activation energy and carbon diffusion coefficient in austenite for this steel were obtained. The possibility of increasing the reliability of heavy-duty gears after cementation by limiting carbide emissions, bainite and residual austenite has been investigated. The optimal thickness of the diffusion layer and carbon content are determined.
