Methods of synthesis of fullerene additives to oil products are estimated and studied their solubility in petroleum products. The kinetics of oxidation of organic compounds in solutions with fullerenes were studied. The effectiveness of fullerene additives to petroleum products was evaluated compared to traditional additives. There is an urgent need for research and development of new additives to fuels and lubricants that would improve their performance. The research on methods of synthesis of fullerene additives to oil products, research of their solubility in oil products and kinetics of oxidation of organic compounds in solutions with fullerenes is carried out. It was found that the synthesis of C60 fullerenes is carried out by thermocatalytic activation and subsequent condensation of compounds that are structural fragments for the assembly of the C60 molecule to obtain fullerenes from residual refined products, as well as by industrial production of fullerenes by pyrolysis and separation of fullerenes from fullerene-containing products. The influence of the nature of hydrocarbons and external factors on the solubility of fullerenes in them has been studied. The mechanism of antifriction and antiwear effect of fullerene additives in fuels and lubricants is analyzed. The anti-wear properties of lubricating oils have been studied and it has been found that the addition of fullerene and fullerene-containing soot reduces the coefficient of friction in comparison with technical soot. However, the effect of fullerene and fullerene-containing soot is almost equally good, which will make it possible to use fullerene-containing soot for antiwear additives instead of pure fullerenes, which will reduce the cost of the process.
