The project aims at a theoretical substantiation of the essence and structure of professional foreign language training of students of non-language specialties; at determining the components and levels of professional foreign language training of students of non-language higher education institutions; at systematizing approaches and technologies which can be used to improve the quality of professional foreign language training of non-philological students. Methodology of work is based on general and special methods and techniques of cognition for the exploration of pedagogical phenomena and processes. Particularly, it has been determined the influence of innovative methods and technologies on teaching foreign languages and cultures, as well as on the development of the foreign language competence of students, their cross cultural awareness and professional self-determination with the help of a method of theoretical analysis, synthesis, and generalization of material. The method of comparative analysis was used to compare the development of higher education systems in Ukraine and other countries. The relations between all the components of the content of education are systematized, including system of general activity, system of language activity, system of language communication, system of the language under study, systemic comparison of foreign and native languages, system of language mechanisms, system of language products - texts, system of structural-linguistic formations, process of mastering a foreign language, the system of human language behavior. As a result of such an approach, a system of foreign language proficiency as a means of communication is formed, implemented and operates in education.
