The purpose of this work is to develop a method of selection and evaluation of fire thermal imagers to ensure the work of fire and rescue units on the actions of the purpose, the results of the assessment of their parameters of work in a fire. The object of research is the parameters of fire thermal imagers during a fire in a fence. The subject of the research is the dependence of the efficiency of reconnaissance on fire detection and search and rescue operations on the technical parameters of fire thermal imagers. The urgency of the work is due to the fact that the search for people (victims), detection of fires, extinguishing fires in fences, usually takes place in conditions of high temperature and heavy smoke, which endangers fire and rescue personnel and reduces the effectiveness of such work. For safe and effective (fast) emergency rescue and search operations during firefighting, special technical equipment is used, one of which is fire thermal imagers. As of today in Ukraine the market of fire thermal imagers is represented by the nomenclature of foreign production. Units of the Central Emergency Service of Ukraine can be equipped with fire thermal imagers due to their centralized purchase and individually (at the expense of local budgets). The correct choice of fire thermal imagers based on the analysis of their main technical characteristics will allow more efficient work of fire and rescue units during the actions on purpose, to ensure the safety of personnel and the speed of rescue operations. Taking into account the above analysis, it can be argued that the research and development of methods for the selection and evaluation of fire thermal imagers is an urgent scientific and practical task.
