The purpose of the work is to study and evaluate the adaptive ability of the breeding material of winter wheat and to identify better samples with economic biological characteristics for creating highly productive varieties resistant to the negative influence of the environment. Research methods - field, laboratory, mathematical and statistical. Research results - for the period 2019-2020, 1463 breeding numbers (2547 variants) were processed, of which 237 were at the initial stages, and 112 numbers in variety trials. The evaluation of the hybrid material for its suitability for further research was carried out in order to create varieties with the given parameters. In the breeding nursery of promising numbers for the reporting period, there were five varieties that meet the specified parameters. In 2018, the Vitalina variety was transferred to the government variety research service, the study and reproduction of which continued in the reporting period. The average yield over the years of study is 8.3 t / ha, the gluten is 22%, the elongation is 14 cm. Selection samples of winter wheat with a high level of adaptation (as a resistance to diseases and pests, winter hardiness, drought resistance, heat resistance, high resistance to lodging and shedding) can be used in research institutions to create highly productive varieties that will be most complete in terms of their characteristics, meet the soil and climatic conditions of the western region of Ukraine. The created variety will provide a yield increase of 15-20% without additional costs of material and technical resources and the economic effect of the introduction of 1000-1200 UAH / ha.
