The purpose of the work is to create new varieties and hybrids of tobacco with a complex combination of high productivity with resistance to biotic and abiotic environmental factors, high quality of raw materials and environmental adaptability, suitability for mechanized harvesting of varieties Large-leaved and Burley. Ensure the production of elite seeds of promising varieties of tobacco. Research methods - general and special: field, laboratory, selection using induction apomixis, calculation, mathematical and statistical. Theoretical and practical results: In 2020, a certificate №200633 on the state registration of the tobacco variety Ukrainian New cultivar Krupnolisty was received. Date of state registration 24.04.2020. Scientific and practical recommendations for growing the Ukrainian New tobacco variety have been developed. The National Center for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine is registering as a donor of valuable economic and biological traits, a new tobacco variety Virginia 423 (request number 004732 from 24.03.2020). Among the samples of competitive and selection variety testing, tobacco varieties and hybrids with high-quality chemical composition and high technological properties, resistance to biotic and abiotic factors, ecological adaptability and high quality of raw materials were selected: Ukrainian New, Fn Virginia 23 × Virginia 401, Fn calme × Burley 38 and Burley 46. In the nursery of hybrids of the older generation for 5 years more than 250 samples of tobacco were studied, which were evaluated on the main indicators. 88 collection samples of tobacco were sifted and studied. More than 20 varieties of tobacco of domestic and foreign selection were introduced. These samples were studied, and the best were used in the selection process (hybridization).
