Aim: to identify medium-ripe hybrid and watermelon line, to develop methodical recommendation for heterosis selection and method of selection of adaptive watermelon lines. Methods: methods and techniques tested. There are 44 sources of productivity, 22 - large-fruited, 34 - with a high content of soluble dry matter, 61 monoecious forms, 5 resistant to melon aphids, 31 - genetically labeled for 7 genes. Created a hybrid Oksamyt F1. Medium ripe (87-90 days), yield – 37.3 t / ha, fruit weight is 3–4 kg, dry matter content is 10.0–10.8%. On yield Oksamyt F1 exceeded the analogue by 6.9 t / ha (24.2%), in dry matter content by 0.8%. The fruits are oval, light green, with distinct medium green stripes. The flesh is red. Economic effect - 15.2 thousand UAH / ha. The NCGRРU submitted a request for registration of the early-ripening watermelon line Malyuk of monoecious type (70–75 days, commodity yield - 29.3–32.0 t / ha, fruit weight - 2.2–2.5 kg, content dry matter - 10.5-10.8%, taste - 9 points). The fruits are round, white, without pattern. The flesh is pink. The line is resistant to sunburn. Economic effect - 14.0 thousand UAH / ha. Legal protection was issued for "Method of selection of adaptive watermelon lines of monoecious type of flowering" (u 2020 06945). The method includes ecological assessment of watermelon for marketable productivity, where as a selective factor is used a provocative background with 3 gradients of sowing dates with an interval of 10 days, which allows to differentiate the gene pool of watermelon by ecological parameters and stability in marketable productivity.
