The object of research - varieties and hybrids of melon, own breeding material. Research methods: field, laboratory, statistical, using guidelines for breeding work. The source material of melons of different origin has been studied. The sources of valuable traits have been identified, the relationships and interdependencies between them have been figured out. Selection and genetic evaluation of lines of different generations has been performed, the parameters of their adaptive potential has been established. A new line RL-2 has been created, which is characterized by a combination of increased total yield (25,5 t/ha) and d.s.m. content in fruits (10,2%) with the presence of a marker - leaf dissection and is surpasses the analogue by yield by 5,8 t/ha (29,4%), d.s.m. content by 0,9%. The line is registered to the National genebank of Ukraine (UL3800546). An hybrid Pisnia F1 (vegetation period of 63 days, yield commercial 24.0 t / ha, average fruit weight 1,32 kg, d.s.m. content 8,6%) has been created, which exceeds the analogue in yield commercial by 8,4 t/ha (53,8%), fruit weight of 0,38 kg. Economic effect 19,9 thousand UAH/ha. An application has been submitted for the utility model "Method of selection of linear melon’s material", which includes an assessment of the adaptive potential of self-pollinated lines, starting from the second or third generation of the inbreeding, which will optimize the selection process. Developed and prepared for publication Manuals for the selection of heterosis melon’s hybrids. Approbated in agricultural enterprises of various forms of ownership in Dnipropetrovsk region. Sphere of application: agriculture, melon growing. Key words: melon, line, form, hybrid, hybridization, testing, productivity, yield, quality, fruit, ability.
