In Ukraine, the issue of reducing the dependence on the imported energy sources together with a severe deficit of financing for the modernisation of heat-generating plants became critical. The main problems herein are the formation of salt deposits on the heat transfer surfaces that leads to losses of thermal energy and corrosion. This results in the destruction of metal, interruptions in the operation of equipment and its premature failures. Accordingly, technology that solves these problems and does not require significant investment for the reequipment of enterprises is needed. The project is aimed at the development of scientific principles and practical recommendations for the functional depositon of the environmentally safe substrates of metal and metal oxide surfaces, especially in heat generation and distribution systems. Achievement of the project goals requires a deep understanding of the modified surface morphology that will be based on the combination of modern electrochemical methods and scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) of an fluid-solid interfaces.
