Aim. To create high-yielding varieties of oats for different areas of Ukraine resistant to diseases, with high grain quality, based on the study of new source material. Methods: field and laboratory. Results. In 2016-2020, a study of economically valuable properties was conducted, pairs for crossing were selected and a new source hybrid material was obtained; in the course of researches perspective selection samples which prevail over existing grades on indicators of productivity and quality of grain are allocated. Varieties of film oats: Matros and Kuzma Nosivskyi have been submitted to the State variety testing of Ukraine. In 2020, the Register of Plant Varieties included the variety of film oats Matros.
