There was created a collection of 58 genotypes of sunflower on the basis of complex resistance to broomrape, dry rot and downy mildew; a hybrid Tur (ZL 96A x 678B) and the parent component ZL98A were developed, which had a relatively high complex resistance (> 75%) to major pathogens; the racial composition of the local (Southern Steppe of Ukraine) population of downy mildew has been established. It has the next composition: race 4 (730), 8 (710) - 65%, race 10, 25 - 25%, race 10 (703) +2 (300) +5 (770) - 10%; the racial composition of the local population (Southern Steppe of Ukraine) of broomrape has been established: race H (as the most aggressive) covers 25%, race G – 20%, race D - 15%, race A + B + E - 40%. The most aggressive isolates of populations (Donetsky, Priazovsky) were isolated, a collection of soybeans in the amount of 24 cultivars was created, which had a relatively high complex resistance (> 50%) to anthracnose and white rot in comparison with the standard; methodical recommendations on creation of effective methods of breeding sunflower and soybean lines with a high level of resistance to a complex of the basic diseases were developed. The practical value of the research is that the identified samples of sunflower and soybeans with complex resistance to major fungal diseases will serve as a basic breeding material for creating high-yielding and resistant varieties and hybrids, which will increase the effectiveness of the selection process of these crops.
