Stage 2. Development and manufacturing of a measuring gas chamber of a high pressure for a hygrometer in structure with a cooling unit of a mirror. popup.stage_title Head Zhuk Hennadij V., Registration Date 18-12-2020 Organization The Gas Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  Excessive moisture in natural gas can cause gneration of hydrates in pipelines and distribution valves, which can lead to reduced productivity, malfunction, or failure of gas equipment. To remove excess moisture using a complex and expensive drying process, so it is important to control the humidity of the gas to prevent the formation of hydrates, while avoiding excessive drying of the gas, as this significantly increases its cost. Therefore, the accuracy of humidity measurement is an important factor in the efficiency and reliability of gas supply. As part of the work, various methods of measuring humidity were analyzed and a condensation method was chosen, which allows to most accurately determine the moisture content in gases. For measurements at gas pipeline parameters, the design of the measuring chamber provides gas supply under excess pressure up to 9 MPa. This allows you to most accurately determine the moisture content in the transported gas. The dew point is fixed by means of an optical system and a cooled mirror. Thanks to a series of practical experiments on real gases, the optimal cooling rate and dynamic sensitivity of the circuit were chosen to most accurately determine the temperature of ice (hydrates) on the mirror surface and to ignore the inherent "noise" during condensation of other hydrocarbons and other impurities on the mirror surface. Given the possible presence of impurities in natural gas that can distort the readings of the device, the operation of various filter elements was analyzed and a filter was developed that absorbs these impurities, while the humidity of the gas remains unchanged. To be able to work in an explosive environment, the device is made in an explosion-proof design. The power supply and all high-power consumers are located in the middle of the explosion-proof shell, and all low-power electrical connections coming out pass through the intrinsically safe barrier.
