Pyridoxal-5-phosphate was found to significantly increase the expression of Kir6.1 and SUR2 mRNA, and glutathione significantly increased the expression of Kir6.1 and Kir6.2 mRNA of vascular and cardiac subunits KATP channels. A model of acute 12% hypoxia is also promising for the induction of expression of cardiac KATP channels. Experiments on isolated mitochondria have shown that the use of pyridoxal-5-phosphate and glutathione inhibited Ca2+-induced opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) openings due to a decrease in its sensitivity to the inducer of its opening - calcium.
